Outpatient Privileging

For hospitals with hospital owned outpatient clinics -- are you required to privilege your providers at the parent site (hospital) with "outpatient only" privileges even if the clinic is functioning under a different TIN number? If so, is there standards/regulatory language you can share with me that stipulates this? The great debate we are having is whether those working in an outpatient setting should be clinically privileged through the hospital and should be required to undergo FPPE/OPPE. TIA!

Jackie, are the clinics operating under the hospital CMS Certification Number (CCN) or are they under the scope of the hospital survey? There are a couple of TJC FAQs related to OPPE and FPPE that include information for non-inpatient areas.
